Division 1 District 11SRGuardians of San Diego and Mission BaysWelcome to Division 1 of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary! The Coast Guard Auxiliary consists of uniformed volunteers who devote significant time and energy each year supporting Coast Guard missions. Primarily, we work to create a safe boating environment by teaching boating safety courses and by conducting vessel safety examinations. Auxiliarists also perform operations such as surface patrols, search and rescue, environmental protection, interpreter duties, and communications watchstanding. Some choose to serve as chefs, Aids to Navigation Verifiers, and Coast Guard Academy Admissions Partners. These are just a few of the ways that auxiliarists enhance the safety and security of our ports and waterways. Division 1 consists of 9 Flotillas which serve the San Diego area. Our Area of Responsibility (AOR) extends from the Mexican border to Camp Pendleton, and east to the Colorado River. The 350 men and women of Division 1 logged over 42,000 hours last year in support of Coast Guard missions. We are proud to be a part of "Team Coast Guard." Whether your interest is in taking a boating safety class or in joining our effort, I invite you to spend some time navigating our website. For you, we are semper paratus ("always ready"). Tom Stoddard, Division 1 Commander |
